Job Title: Manufacturing Supervisor

FLSA Status: Full Time/Exempt


Job Summary

The Manufacturing Supervisor position is a vital member of the JMS manufacturing team and is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and continuous improvement in the following capacities:


Responsibilities include:

  • Handling employee’s timecards, PTO, disciplinary actions, quarterly 1 on 1’s, performance reviews, etc.
  • Ensuring employees are entering time and quantities correctly in ERP software (Epicor)
  • Schedule and direct workflow based on information received from Operations Management, Supervisory Team, and Production Schedule (Operations Dashboard)
  • Report accurate status of all projects to Production Meeting, Project Management, and Leadership
  • Make and Honor Commitments on deadlines for departments
  • Assist in developing lead time commitments for projects or rush orders
  • Areas of responsibility include
  • Machine Shop (horizontal lathes, milling machines, drill presses, CNC lathe (Fanuc 21i controller)
  • Saw
  • Laser
  • Forming (CNC press brakes)
  • Cleaning
  • Ensure training of new hires occurs and meets applicable safety and quality protocols
  • Basic job knowledge desired for each of these areas or expertise in one and ability to learn others required
  • Troubleshoot operator issues with support from Manufacturing Engineering and outside vendors as needed
  • Pull drawings, help find parts, help pull dimensions, etc.
  • Ensure housekeeping is maintained
  • Create SOP’s as necessary to reduce confusion, variation, and process breakdowns
  • Create and lead continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure errors and deviations are reported and processed through the proper channels
  • Assist in ordering materials, tools, and supplies for projects
  • Safety leader. Coaching and training associates on continuous safety habits
  • Follow all JMS, Inc. policies and procedures


Required Qualifications

  • 3 years supervisory experience in Manufacturing
  • Experience fabricating and packaging large equipment
  • Forklift experience/certification in transportation of large equipment
  • ERP knowledge (Epicor preferred)
  • Shop knowledge (reading drawings, measuring, math, etc.)
  • High sense of urgency and attention to project timelines
  • Strong communication skills including the ability to negotiate positive outcomes 
  • Requires a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook 
  • Ability to work effectively & efficiently with team members on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as logical thought process



  • High School Diploma/GED or Associates required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Engineering, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management a plus, or equivalent work experience
