Production Manager

Job Summary

The Production Manager position is a vital member of the JMS Manufacturing Team and is responsible for the oversight of all manufactured goods to achieve On Time Delivery of all Manufacturing shipments, and the management of the Manufacturing Production Teams (Direct Labor and Supervisors) and processes, excluding Logistics and Assembly (currently) – in a safe manner and in alignment with JMS Quality standards. 

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensure safety policies are established and adhered to
  • Ensure our Culture of Quality is improving and supported
    • Managing culture, morale, and motivation
  • Manage daily Production Meeting
  • Setting production goals and increasing accountability
  • Ensure all scheduling commitments are met or addressed/rescheduled well in advance of ship date (the sooner the better but two weeks prior, at the latest)
  • Provide direction and priorities to the Manufacturing Supervisors as needed to support Production Schedule
  • Work with Supervisors and Human Resources to monitor and address manpower needs proactively
  • Work with Supervisors and Direct Labor as needed to communicate over time needs proactively
  • Work with Supervisors to enforce safety, quality, and productivity standards through professional communication and disciplinary action, as needed
    • Work with Supervisors, Manufacturing Support, and Management to maintain and procure equipment and upgrades as needed
  • Monitor production and subcontractors for bottlenecks and work with the appropriate parties to address and/or eliminate them in a proactive manner
    • Professionally communicate with Manufacturing, Purchasing, Project Management and JMS Management regarding project status including updates or perceived challenges in project delivery
  • Assist in defining order requirements for materials, tools, and supplies for projects
  • Safety leader- coaching and training associates on continuous safety habits
  • Follow all JMS, Inc. policies and procedures

 

Required Qualifications

    • Passion for establishing and improving a culture of quality and safety
    • Appreciation and support of organization and visual management 
    • Engineer to Order experience in most if not all areas of responsibility (3 years + in manufacturing preferred)
    • Experience fabricating large equipment
    • Experience with Production quotas and ensuring productivity
    • Forklift experience/certification in transportation of large equipment
    • ERP knowledge (Epicor preferred)
  • Demonstrated appreciation of structure, documentation, SOP’s, and visual management aids
    • High sense of urgency and attention to detail and commitment to project timelines
  • Strong communication skills including the ability to negotiate positive outcomes 
    • Requires a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook 
  • Ability to work effectively & efficiently with team members on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as logical thought process

 

Education

  • High School Diploma/GED or Associates required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Engineering, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management a plus, or equivalent work experience
