Job Summary

The Project Engineer position at Jim Myers & Sons, Inc. (JMS) is a vital member of the Engineering Team and is a diverse high paced position with the following primary responsibilities. 

 

Responsibilities include

  • Provide active management of all Aftermarket Products orders
  • Edit and manage Sales Order and Job information within the ERP software (Epicor)
  • Create part numbers, methods, and drawings for parts and assemblies
  • Coordinate approval and delivery schedules with customers
  • Maintain budget, timing, and quality performance of Aftermarket Product orders
  • Maintain order records and relevant KPIs for Aftermarket Product orders
  • Manage files for Aftermarket Product orders for reference
  • Work with Business Development, Engineering, Procurement, and Manufacturing team members on multiple orders simultaneously
  • Monitor open orders for progress and billing
  • Proactively contact contractors, engineers, suppliers, and agencies as pertinent
  • Coordinate vendor information with Procurement/Purchasing
  • Travel to plant sites for training, field measurements, and installation
  • Adhere to all JMS, Inc. policies and procedures

 

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills including the ability to negotiate positive outcomes 
  • Must possess a minimum of 1 year of experience in project management, engineering, or production support 
  • Must be able to create drawings and 3D models for approval and manufacturing
  • Strong background in the design of mechanical equipment with high attention to detail
  • Requires a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook
  • Experience with ERP/MRP software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as a logical thought process
  • Desire to learn and to continue developing knowledge and skills

 

Desired Experience and Skills

  • Knowledge of fabrication processes such as bending, punching, welding, etc.
  • Experience with the municipal water and wastewater industry a plus
  • Experience with material handling systems (conveyors and bulk storage) a plus
  • Experience with the design of rotating equipment including shafts, gearboxes, and bearings 
  • Experience in Epicor EPR

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant experience in Project Management
