OUR TECHNOLOGIES / MEGA-TREATMENT

Water and wastewater treatment, engineered process by process

Mega-TREATMENT covers the liquid train, from coagulated water entering flocculation to the clarified effluent that leaves the basin. Each technology is sized to the loading of the application, then built in the shops that designed it.

A treatment plant is a sequence of unit processes, and equipment earns its place by what it does for the stage around it. The sections below follow the water: conditioning, clarification, collection, and the removal of what settles or floats.

01 · CLARIFICATION

High-rate clarification — Mega-SETTLER, Mega-SYSTEM

Sedimentation is where Mega-TREATMENT carries the most weight. Mega-SETTLER plate settlers add effective settling area inside the basin you already have: angled stainless plate packs shorten the distance a particle falls before it reaches a surface, allowing the basin to treat more flow, without giving up effluent quality. Where civil work is impractical, the JMS Mega-SYSTEM packages the same technology in a stainless steel unit that arrives ready to set and pipe.

02 · FLOCCULATION

Flocculation — Mega-FLOC

Flocculation builds strong, settleable floc through carefully controlled mixing. Effective flocculation requires a decreasing velocity gradient (G-value); vigorous enough to promote particle collisions at the inlet, then progressively gentler to preserve floc as it grows. Mega-FLOC® paddle-wheel flocculators provide this controlled mixing in horizontal (HPWF), vertical (VPWF), and walking-beam (WBF) configurations, each designed to meet the specified G-value, detention time, and basin geometry.

Specify: Mega-FLOC HPWF · VPWF · WBF

03 · EFFLUENT

Effluent collection — Mega-TROUGH

Uniform effluent collection is essential to preserve clarification performance. Mega-TROUGH® effluent launders provide even withdrawal across the basin through precision V-notch weirs, minimizing short-circuiting and maintaining uniform weir loading. Commonly paired with Mega-SETTLER®, they form a complete effluent collection system optimized for high-performance sedimentation.

04 · SLUDGE REMOVAL

Sludge removal — Mega-VAC, Mega-SCRAPER

Effective sludge collection protects clarifier performance. As solids settle, they must be removed before they accumulate or become re-entrained. Mega-VAC® uses a traveling vacuum header that eliminates flexible hoses, reducing maintenance and improving reliability. Mega-SCRAPER® provides mechanical sludge collection using a reciprocating scraper mechanism, configured to suit the basin geometry.

Specify: Mega-VAC (hoseless) · Mega-SCRAPER (reciprocating)

05 · SURFACE SKIMMING

Surface skimming — Mega-SKIMMER

Scum, oils, and foam collect at the surface and need a positive route off the water. Mega-SKIMMER moves that material to a collection trough as a rotating Scum Pipe, a paddle-wheel skimmer, or a helical skimmer, matched to the basin and the volume of floatables.

Specify: Mega-SKIMMER — Scum Pipe · Paddle Wheel · Helical

06 · AERATION

Aeration — Mega-AIR

When a process requires oxygen transfer without blowers or mechanical aerators, Mega-AIR® provides a simple, low-maintenance solution. Engineered cascade plates spread water into thin sheets over stepped stainless-steel surfaces, maximizing contact with air for efficient oxygen transfer. Available in air infusion plate and leaping-weir configurations, each system is sized to the required flow and oxygen demand.

Specify: Mega-AIR (cascade plate aeration)

07 · FLOW CONTROL

Flow control — Mega-WALL

Hydraulic control is essential to treatment performance. Mega-WALL® stainless-steel baffle walls direct flow through each treatment stage, minimizing short-circuiting and maintaining the intended hydraulic conditions. Modular construction simplifies installation in new and existing basins while providing long-term corrosion resistance.

Specify: Mega-WALL (baffle system)
