Work Experience: 3-5 years of field service experience

 

Job Summary

The Field Service Technician position at Jim Myers & Sons, Inc. (JMS) is a vital member of the Engineering Team by traveling on-site to assist with startup activities, and customer support of JMS provided equipment. The technician will work to improve customer satisfaction by building positive relationships and providing excellent service.

 

Responsibilities include

  • Provide customer service and support during site visits
  • Manage on-site installation inspections, repairs, maintenance, and test-related tasks
  • Oversee the repair of existing equipment in the field
  • Investigate and resolve mechanical, electrical, and process issues
  • Provide telephone and email support to assist customers in resolving issues with JMS equipment
  • Communicate with internal JMS resources for engineering and sales support
  • Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction
  • Self-manage time and coordinate schedule including required travel on short notice
  • Lifting and carry heavy equipment. Also, may need to crouch or squat to work on equipment
  • Work hours are Monday – Friday with occasional weekends
  • Travel will be 75% domestic, 5% international, and 20% remote/office

 

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of field service experience
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and passport and be able to respond immediately to problems in the field (capable of traveling within the continental USA and abroad without hesitation)
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude. Ability to read control schematics.
  • Requires proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as a logical thought process

 

Desired Experience and Skills

  • Experience with the municipal water and wastewater industry
  • Prior military experience in electronics, electrical, and mechanical maintenance is a plus. 
  • Experience with 3 phase motors, VFD’s, instrumentation, and controls/relays 
  • Understandning of controls integration and PLC basics
  • Knowledge of fabrication processes 
  • Experience with material handling systems (conveyors and bulk storage) and other related equipment

 

Education

  • Technical degree or certification in mechanical, electrical/electronics, industrial controls, construction, or other related fields
