Job Summary

The Project Manager position at Jim Myers & Sons, Inc. (JMS) is a vital member of the Engineering Team and is a diverse high paced position with the following primary responsibilities.

 

Responsibilities include

  • The Project Manager has responsibility for project budget, timing and quality including project deliverables
  • Developing project schedule with payment milestones
  • Preparing submittal packages, communicates with customers and consulting engineering firms to obtain approvals
  • Communicating with internal and external customers to provide project leadership along with project management
  • Creating and maintaining project records; Archives proper files for retention
  • Working with project team members on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Developing and monitoring the project schedule to meet the projects time objectives and milestones
  • Proactively contacting contractors, engineers, suppliers and agencies as pertinent
  • Coordinating vendor information to assist in system design
  • Some traveling to plants sites required for training, field measurements and installation
  • Working with field service personnel to resolve issues identified on site
  • Participating on Product Teams to help improve JMS products
  • Follow all JMS, Inc. policies and procedures

 

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills including the ability to negotiate positive outcomes
  • Must possess a minimum of 5 years of combined project management and engineering experience
  • Ability to conduct thorough review of drawings and 3D SolidWorks models
  • Strong background in the design of mechanical equipment with high attention to detail
  • Requires a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook
  • Experience with Project Management software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as logical thought process

 

Desired Experience and Skills

  • Knowledge of fabrication processes such as bending, punching, welding, etc…
  • Experience with the municipal water and wastewater industry a plus
  • Experience with material handling systems (conveyors and bulk storage) a plus
  • Experience with electrical power, instrumentation and controls a plus
  • Experience with the design of rotating equipment including shafts, gearboxes, and bearings
  • Experienced in performing machine design calculations
  • Experience in Epicor ERP

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant field of engineering with equivalent combination of experience
